I am Daan, a current professional staff member in TSS.
I have studied at this university and worked in academic and professional roles, both casual and full time. In all these areas I have seen an increase in workloads and a decrease in job security whilst the uni reports record profits.
I am running for branch committee with NTEU renewal as I believe in a union focused on your priorities. In the last bargaining round, we saw a disparity between the views of the majority of the branch committee and the rest of the union. There is a time for idealism and a time for pragmatism. We must stand firm for our ideals but also realise that with our current numbers and mobilisation we must be tactical with our approach
For these reasons I have the following priorities:
Improve job security, conditions, and stability
Increase cooperation between branches and other unions.
Reach out to non-union workers, increase membership, and increase our presence at the school and faculty level with representative committees.
For better conditions, vote NTEU Renewal, for a union led by you.
