Fiona Gill for Branch Secretary

I am standing for the position of Branch Secretary, a position I was proud to hold until my resignation in October 2023.

I see this election as a chance to fundamentally reform the culture of the branch.

I wish to represent members of a branch which reflects the interests and needs of our members, raising up the voices of diversity, compassion, and strength in the face of division, alienation, intolerance and oppression.

  • a strong branch which is home to a wide diversity of political positions, and which reflects a commitment to academic freedom, freedom of speech and robust and respectful debate;

  • a branch which nurtures a culture of decency, humanism, and compassion for fellow members, and for humanity and society more generally; and

  • a united branch, dedicated to the protection and extension of workers’ rights.

To achieve these, we need a united branch dedicated to strong, strategic decision-making, action and inclusivity.
