The marketisation and managerialist experiment with higher education has failed. Change is coming. It is vital unions shape and not just react to the impending upheaval.
I am committed to three key priorities:
Improving our conditions: controlling workloads, increasing job security
‘Unlearning managerialism’: bringing true accountability to change processes
Strengthening our union: boosting membership, supporting workplace delegates.
Strong unions are essential for a democratic, fair and vibrant society. One of the most practical ways we can help build such a society is by building a strong union in our workplace.
For decent conditions, a decent University and a decent society we need a decent Union.
